Shannon McAfee, writer and lyricist, created Reform Through Music as a passion project. After experiencing a devastating loss in 2019, Shannon turned to music as a source of inspiration and therapy. Reform Through Music's first original song, "If I Would Have Known", was created from a poem written for a loved one who lost his life to domestic violence. She knew that the most effective way to get the message of the poem to the people who need it most was through music. She contacted a local recording studio and collaborated with a group of musicians to create an original song for Domestic Violence Awareness. The song is meant to inspire others to break their silence and stop the violence so they can live the life they deserve.

It was during this process that Reform Through Music was born. Reform Through Music is the idea that the union of inspiring lyrics with powerful music has the ability to initiate positive change in individuals and society as a whole. Music does have the power to initiate positive change. The key is getting the right song to the right person at the right time.
